CMC Telecom, a subsidiary of Vietnam-based CMC, has signed a joint agreement with cloud service provider Akamai to deliver security services to a blockchain-based trading floor.

As reported by Cointelegraph, both providers will provide support to BCNEX, which offers services for blockchain-based startups in Vietnam. According to a report shared on CMC’s website on May 2, the collaboration aims to keep user data safe while preventing distributed denial-of-service (DDoS) attacks.

Akamai, based in the United States, is one of the biggest global distributed computing platforms, with revenue of more than US$2.5 billion in 2017.

Ngo Hoang Quyen, the co-founder and CEO of BCNEX, explained that many trading floors around the world were forced to close due to the pervasiveness of hackers, whose activities included DDoS attacks.

He therefore insisted that maintaining an efficient and stable system was “the minimum requirement” for e-commerce platforms in general, and trading floors in particular.

The two companies have been business partners since 2015 and Le Anh Vu, one of CMC Telecom’s directors, noted that end users of BCNEX will benefit from faster speeds when using the trading platform.

For its part, Akamai has previously been involved with delivering similar projects, having partnered with Japan’s Mitsubishi UFJ (MUFG) Financial Group in February 2019 to launch a blockchain-based payment system in the first half of 2020 that will be equipped with an interface that can be used as a communications network.

The platform, dubbed the Global Open Network, aims to utilize the payment industry reach of MUFG, the world’s fifth largest bank, to solidify its standing in the increasingly competitive blockchain payments market.
