Infinity Blockchain Ventures (IBV) was proud to join other industry leaders and entrepreneurs in discussing the state of blockchain technology development and the future of the industry at Blockchain Festival Vietnam on May 24th and 25th. The event hosted leaders from a wide variety of industries to discuss and study the latest developments and important topics of blockchain technology. Nicole Nguyen, Head of APAC for IBV, spoke about the acceleration of growth for early stage blockchain based projects and the state of blockchain in Vietnam.
The event, held in Ho Chi Minh City and hosted by Huobi, brought together industry leaders to exchange ideas and share the value of growing the blockchain ecosystem in Vietnam and around the world. Along with over 1,600 participants, the event hosted an exposition where booths showcased products offered by prominent and upcoming names in the blockchain industry. The main stage of the event hosted over 30 distinguished speakers as well as five expert panels that shared their important insight into the state of the blockchain while providing a Q&A for interested crypto users and blockchain startups.
Adding valuable insight from her considerable experience, Nicole Nguyen of IBV discussed the importance of growth in blockchain projects on an expert panel with investment industry leaders. The panel, moderated by Katherine Duan or B+ Singapore, consisted of John Fiorelli (head Kenetic), Guo Yong (Node Capital), Elon Huang (RedNova), Phuong Hilary (Alphawhale Investment Fund), and Emma Cui (LongHash). The panel spoke about growth for early stage projects and and topics such as the sustainability of exponential growth and the kinds of teams needed for a startup to blossom in the markets of Vietnam and the rest of Southeast Asia.
Nicole spoke about the the necessity of adhering to the core fundamentals of business. She explained that all startups, regardless of whether the company is blockchain based, should be business-driven, always match supply with demand, and focus on delivering unique solutions to common problems. Startups often grow so quickly they often overlook the core concepts of business
For blockchain startups in particular, Nicole stated that failing to adequately focus on solutions to problems causes many of them to fail at early stages in their development. She stressed that the success of blockchain startups is largely based on how well the company can identify common problems and strategically market sound and impactful solutions based on the company’s unique blockchain technology development.
Nicole went on to discuss the state of blockchain technology development in Vietnam. She aspires to welcome more ventures and blockchain company startups, incubators and venture capitalists to build the blockchain ecosystem in Vietnam. Along with developing the blockchain ecosystem of services, she also discussed ways in which the country can connect the dots in achieving a true blockchain infrastructure. In developing this infrastructure, the country will attract quality jobs in such as engineers and developers, gain increased geopolitical stability, and develop a tech-savvy population for the future of Vietnam.
Along with Nicole’s fascinating panel, there were many other fascinating topics addressed by speakers. Some notable speakers included Hou Lin and Frank Fan of Huobi who discussed business investment in the blockchain ecosystem and Huobi’s strategy for catching growth waves in emerging markets. Jeffrey Wernick, a prominent entrepreneur and stakeholder in Uber and Airbnb, discussed ways in which cryptousers and blockchain companies find value in the blockchain industry and the means of finding the best emerging blockchain startups for investment. Loi Luu, the founder of Kyber Network, discussed the forecast of decentralized exchanges for the rest of 2018 and beyond.

Aside from the excitement on the mainstage, the event showcased an abundance of fascinating blockchain based companies in the exposition area. Some fascinating booths included Mark.Space, an open space platform for the creation of 3D and virtual reality compatible web-spaces and objects all powered by blockchain. Insee Network, a company committed to building the world’s largest visual content collaboration network, And LinkEye, a blockchain based Credit Alliance hoping to create a comprehensive and reliable credit database for banks around the world.
After the event, Nicole and the IBV crew hosted the Blockchain All Stars after-party! The party brought together participants from the event to socialize and discuss the day’s exciting events. Everyone who attended loved the opportunity to talk about the interesting topics and new exciting blockchain based ideas they were exposed to during the event.
