South Korean tech giant Samsung has announced the launch of its blockchain and decentralized application (DApp) Software Development Kit (SDK).

As reported by Cointelegraph, the Samsung Blockchain SDK enables account management and backup; payment and digital signature facilitation; Samsung Keystore and other cold wallet support. The website dedicated to the kit also describes it as a superset of all SDKs, which includes the Samsung Blockchain Keystore SDK.

Addressing Client Concerns Regarding Blockchain

Samsung’s latest flagship smartphone, the Galaxy S10, includes storage for private cryptocurrency keys. Additionally, rumors in May began swirling that the conglomerate would be rolling out blockchain-enabled features for its budget mobile devices.

In June, Samsung’s IT subsidiary announced it would be launching three new products aimed at addressing client concerns about blockchain. The products would make integration with other platforms easier for entities trying to adopt the technology.

Won-Pyo Hong, president and CEO of Samsung SDS, recently revealed that the company is also including blockchain as one of the key technologies for its digital transformation network.

Competing for Mobile Dominance in the Crypto Space

In May, Samsung competitor HTC unveiled its Exodus 1S smartphone with Bitcoin full node capability. The announcement coincided with the launch of the firm’s in-wallet crypto trading for users of the Exodus 1 smartphone.

In a press release, HTC stated that the Exodus 1S would contain the full Bitcoin blockchain and allow for a trustless user experience. This was based on the understanding that full nodes were the most ideal method for privately using Bitcoin, as well as for securing the future of the cryptocurrency.
